VU has a strong network of trailblazing alumni who are leaders, critical thinkers and problem solvers.  We are proud to celebrate and spotlight those who are making the world a better place. We’d like to introduce you to VU Alumnus Henry Okoeguale who majored in computer science and has a fantastic future ahead!

What degree do you hold?  I hold an Associate Degree in Computer Science. I graduated with Magna Cum Laude Honors.

What are your career aspirations? I want to gain experience using computer science principles to develop solutions that will satisfy the wants and needs of people. Also, use the experiences gained from working with organizations to manage projects and teams.

Where are you from?   I am originally from Nigeria. I moved to the U.S a few years back and have lived in Vincennes ever since.

Why did you choose Vincennes University?    I chose Vincennes University for a couple of reasons. Attending Vincennes University keeps me close to my family. The tuition fee of Vincennes University is the lowest when compared to other colleges in the state of Indiana.

What were your favorite classes? Why were they your favorite?  I had a couple of favorite classes during my stay at Vincennes University. However, I think Database Management/SQL taught by Professor Lorrie Thompson and Introduction to Chemistry/Chemistry Lab as taught by Professor Teresa Tarbuck and Professor Elizabeth Lowes respectively, were my favorites. I enjoyed working on the Oracle SQL Developer Data modeler. I passed the 1Z0-006 Oracle Database Foundations Examination. Chemistry/Chemistry Lab classes were fun for me.

How did VU prepare you for your career path?  Vincennes University gave me the necessary tutelage to go out there and achieve my dreams and aspirations.

What advice would you give others thinking about college? I would advise others thinking about college to be determined and prepared to give their all to achieve academic excellence. Attending college and coming out with flying colors is achievable.

Did you have a favorite VU instructor or mentor that impacted your path? Most of my instructors were spectacular. However, Professor Lorrie Thompson was more impactful.

What is something you learned at VU that will serve you throughout your life? I learned at VU that hard work and dedication are keys to achieving greatness in life.

What kept you motivated throughout your college journey?  What kept me motivated throughout my college journey was the desire to see what was on the other side of the tunnel. The desire to graduate with honors, make myself and my family proud was also a motivating factor.

If you had to describe your VU experience in three words, what words would you choose?  Memorable, Satisfying, and Inspiring
