Founded in 1801 VU is Indiana’s first college making your degree widely recognized by top employers! Vincennes is a vibrant city rich with culture and history. Here you will find many unique local happenings such as the George Rogers Clark National Historic park, Fort Knox II, and the mansion of VU founder and US President William Henry Harrison.

VU to host free inclusive teaching presentation for K-12 educators

The Vincennes University Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council in partnership with the VU Innovative Teaching Summit Team is hosting a special event for K-12 educators at 2 p.m (ET) on Tuesday, February 7, that will provide valuable insight and strategies for creating inclusive and accessible learning environments. VU is hosting an educational presentation at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center featuring Jennifer Pusateri, an expert on Universal Design Learning (UDL) and author of Transform Your Teaching with Universal Design for Learning: Six Steps to Jumpstart Your Practice.

VU TRIO programs are providing transformative educational opportunities for underrepresented students

February is National TRIO Month, and Vincennes University’s five TRIO programs are celebrating the educational outreach programs that help first-generation, income-eligible, and students with disabilities enter college and earn a degree. VU offers five TRIO programs: Collaborative Opportunities for Postsecondary Education (COPE) Student Support Services, Educational Talent Search (ETS), Experience VU Student Support Services, Project Achieving Success through Participation In Reaching Educational Excellence (ASPIREE), and Upward Bound. All are federally funded educational initiatives designed to motivate and assist students in their academic pursuit of completing a college degree.

Shelby Liegl is Blazing Her Trail as a Student Leader and Animal Lover

To say Shelby Liegl, ‘23, is an animal lover is an understatement. The Vincennes University Chemical Sciences and Pre-Veterinary major has many pets, including two dogs, two guinea pigs, and a sulcata tortoise. Learn more about the Evansville, Indiana, native’s animals later. Liegl’s future career plans stem from her love of animals. She aspires to become a veterinarian. She already works in a veterinary clinic and volunteers at an animal shelter. Her dream is to move to Colorado and become a wildlife veterinarian. While she works toward an associate degree, she is really enjoying being a college student.

VU's Project ASPIREE adds more local middle and high schools to program

Project Achieving Success through Participation in Reaching Educational Excellence (ASPIREE), sponsored by Vincennes University, has added several new schools to its federally funded grant program. Project ASPIREE is adding underrepresented students who have the potential to succeed in higher education at Washington Catholic Middle School, Washington Catholic High School, and North Daviess Jr/Sr High School.
