VINCENNES, Ind. - Representatives of Yancheng Polytechnic College in Yancheng, Jiangsu, China, and Vincennes University President Chuck Johnson today signed an agreement that commits their respective institutions to fostering mutual cooperation in the areas of education and research.
The agreement offers opportunities for activities and programs such as teaching, research, exchange of faculty and students, and staff development.
The Yancheng delegation included PengMing Jiang, President of College Council; Honggui Xu, Director of International Cooperation; and Specialty Leading Persons Congxiang Lu, Yueqin Yao, and Jiajia Fu.
Johnson welcomed the guests to VU as part of a four-day Cooperation Conference, Sept. 4-7. “The goal of the conference is to explore opportunities for deep collaboration between institutions in each country and to enhance understanding of postsecondary career and technical education in both the United States and China,” said Johnson. “Last fall I had the pleasure of meeting with the leadership and faculty of Yancheng Polytechnic College and tour their beautiful campus. This agreement represents the shared mission of our two institutions and the mutual respect we have for each other. It also builds on VU's existing partnerships and relationships in Yancheng and elsewhere in Jiangsu Province.”
The institutions have agreed to work together to develop programs or activities such as joint educational, cultural, and research activities including transfer articulation agreements; and exchange of teaching staff and students for research, lectures, summer teaching programs, and other areas that will benefit both schools.
