Lady Blazers Come Up Short in 1st game of Gulf Coast Classic

Vincennes Lady Trailblazers lose to Chipola College, 76-67

PANAMA CITY, Fla. – The Vincennes Lady Trailblazers sliced a 12-point deficit nearly in half in the final minutes of their first game of the Gulf Coast Classic Friday night, but came up short against No. 8 Chipola College, losing 76-67.

Hope Elam scored 28 points – half coming on a 14-for-14 performance at the free throw line – and Katie Ahaus had 18 for VU. Ashley Buis finished with 14 points.

Chipola was led by Latoya Williams with 21 points.

The Indians led 29-26 at halftime.

The going gets no easier for the Lady Trailblazers as they face host Gulf Coast Community College on the classic’s second night Saturday. The Commodores are ranked fifth in the nation and routed Georgia Perimeter College 81-28 Friday night.
